Utah School Voucher Details and FAQs

Q: Why is applying for the Utah Fits All Scholarship as soon as possible important for my family?

A: The Scholarship program will fund $8,000 for only about 10,000 students in Utah. Utah has set aside about $80,000,000 in funding for the Scholarship. 

A: Parents must reapply for the Scholarship yearly. "If enrollment exceeds available program funding," the highest priority is given to students who previously qualified for and used the Scholarship.

Q: If our family qualifies for and accepts the Utah Fits All Scholarship, can my student(s) attend public school?

A: No. The Utah code specifies that accepting the Scholarship is the equivalent of denying services. "Students may apply to the UFA Scholarship while enrolled in public district or charter schools but must disenroll no later than the start of the upcoming school year in which they would like to participate in UFA."

Q: If parents are dissatisfied with the quality/services of education at other institutions, can they re-enroll students in public schools?

A: Yes, at any time. Other education institutions can not require or compel students/families to stay at their institution using the UFA Scholarship tuition as leverage.
